She's still asleep
as I slip out into cold
ease down stairs
run water to fill coffee,
grind beans
towel to muffle machinery.
Prepare apple cinnamon batter
two eggs, two cups water
(simple)
pour into paper muffin cups
“paper cups are preferred”
and slip into preheated oven.
She wakes halfway through baking.
Comes downstairs, hair atumble.
The first sip of coffee and she asks
me to check--
Directions never said to place in molds.
I thought
paper cups were enough.
