Paper Mache Replacements

I. Building the Mold

Study the structure
without exaggeration
slice across
comic book
fantasy
pound the metal
frame until
bloodied, raw
That is what
we are after
here.
The need
to work
with hands
flesh fights
chicken wire
bending to will.

II. Spraying the Foam

Boiling mass
continual
expanding
breathing
into monstrous
deformities
bubbling
cancers
begging
to be cut out
cut away
to be made
pretty
from
inside
out.

III. Facing the Blade and Saw

Artistry in
surgery

Don’t overdo it

Less Less Less

We can’t have
the bones
showing through.

IV. Apply the Plaster

Slip and slide
sensuality
deep massage
on well-oiled
skin

tissue

V. Details

Soft touches
now. Wisp
brush strokes
Convey softness
without losing
hard lines, angles
blemishes
shadows

Final Glaze

Quit tinkering.
It was always
meant to be
artificial.
